Norte Grande

Norte Grande is covers one fourth of the countries land. It is one of the driest places on the earth. Some parts are even so dry, that rainfall has never been recorded there. One of these parts includes the Atacama Desert, which is thought to be the the driest desert in the Earth.
Although the desert is almost inhabitable in a lot of places, it is still an important part of Chile and its economy. This is because the desert provides natural resources such as coppers and nitrates (Wikipedia).
